A Word from the Archbishop – Video
Having heard the needs within the Archdiocese, I am delighted to announce the opening of Notre Dame Hospice, a new healthcare ministry. With the grace of God, we are able to offer this important ministry and insure that the Catholic Church is present, in this very special way, to assist people at a critical time in life’s journey.
In witnessing to our faith, Notre Dame Hospice will be a community of faith, respect, love and support to patients and their families as they face the reality of death. Jesus’ redemption and grace embraces the whole person, especially in illness and suffering as we are reborn to eternal life.
Notre Dame Hospice embraces the guidelines published in the latest edition of the “Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services” developed by our Bishops. This is our directive on issues of care for the seriously ill and dying. My own parents and our family benefited from the compassionate care provided by hospice.
We ask for your support and prayers for the staff and people served by Notre Dame Hospice. May our Lord Jesus Christ be our source of inspiration and our model in offering compassionate care to those on their journey to eternal life.
Sincerely In Christ,
Most Reverend Gregory M. Aymond
Archbishop of New Orleans
